Artists are invited to apply with a project idea under one of the following categories: Visual Art, Theatre and Comedy, Music, Dance, Film and Creative Producing.  You can apply with either a written or filmed application providing answers to all questions are included in the submission.

The criteria for the Film Production category is as follows:

  • Hi there. I was wondering, were we meant to submit a script with this application? I described in brief the story of my script in my video but never attached the actual script and now I'm worried that this is missing from my application? Really appreciate some advice on this.

    • No you didn't have to submit a script. You can add one to your Hiive profile if you wanted to enhance your application further though.

  • Hi there, I missed the deadline, wrongly though it was today. Is there any possibility to still apply?

  • Hi, I've already submitted my application and when I did I could see a list of who else has applied and when I had applied. Now when I return to this swarm it just says to follow this brief to apply, is this an error? Do i need to be worried about my application?

  • Hi, I'm having a hard time getting my showreel to become visible on my profile, i've ticked the box on my youtube link but it won't show up. Any ideas here?

    avatar , , 10/03/16 , 35 AP

    • Hi - I’ve just checked your profile and the error is that you’re linking to a specific videos on Youtube, and not the Youtube channel as supposed too. Input the link to your YouTube channel then click the showreel button and the feed will work. Let me know if you continue to have difficulty with this.

  • Hi Simon, sorry to pester you. Would you be able to confirm that my application's been received? I submitted about an hour ago and its been 'saving' ever since- should I just leave it like that for the next 5 hours? Is there a confirmation email or something? Many thanks, Katherine

    • Hi Katherine, it has't gone through, so the best thing is to save your answers and then submit again.

  • Hi, sorry this is so late- I'm trying to add a vimeo link for my show reel on my profile and while it uploads the link it doesn't allow me to have it as my showreel (doesn't seem to recognise the 'name' when it asks me to check it even though the name is correct. do you know why this might be? also, I have a screenplay which I want to attach but only want the judges to be able to see it, is there a way of doing this? Thanks in advance, Best,

    Katherine Hearst , Illustrator , 10/03/16 , 45 AP

    • Hi Katerine - I've just checked your profile and where you're going wrong the showreel front is that your putting the link to the specific video and not the vimeo channel link. Input the the the link to your vimeo channel and the showreel functionality will work.

There is no option to make videos private on your Hiive profile I'm afraid.

      • Hi Simon, thanks for the swift response- got it sorted now, thanks very much. I've submitted but the form's been saving for about 15 minutes- do I just assume it's gone through? Many thanks, Katherine

        Katherine Hearst , Illustrator , 10/03/16 , 45 AP

      • No - save your answers and apply again. You will receive an email confirming your application has been received.

        avatar , , 10/03/16 , 1,259 AP

      • sorry, as in stop the saving and submit again? I've done that and it just carries on saving, its been doing that for a couple of hours now. Or should I wipe all my answers and start again? Thanks, Katherine

        Katherine Hearst , Illustrator , 10/03/16 , 45 AP

  • Hi, If my application video is 3 seconds over the 2min time allowance will it still be considered? Thank you, Josy

    avatar , , 09/03/16 , 40 AP

  • Hi

Could you please explain the section of the practice application that says "Explain the outcome of your project. What will you create or produce?"

It asks for a synopsis. Is that a story synopsis of the short film or a description of the project in a more general sense ie. I am going to write and direct a film in Dublin etc?

    Many thanks

    avatar , , 09/03/16 , 35 AP

    • It is more general in terms of you are going to create x, it will on platform y or be seen at venue z and will last for a certain time period etc
